I have to do this one before my CRS get's worse. When I was a young kid (no, not when dinosaurs roamed the lands) I remember that Grandma and Grandpa Fenrich lived on a farm around Pinkney. I was lured into a "most dreaded job." by my father, Donald R. Fenrich, SR and his brothers and sisters. The septic tank at G&G's Pinkney home had been pumped out, and I was asked if I would go down and wash out the cement walls. I guess I protested, but I was lowered into this stinking, dark dungeon with my underwear on and someones boots. They lowered me by hand. Then someone lowered a kerosine lantern which created dreaded shadows of monsters on the dark, slimy, stinky walls an onto the "sludge" I stood in. Then someone lowered some kind of brush and a bucket. I guess I was supposed to get fresh water in that bucket, then use it for the scrubbing. I can remember screaming and screaming, "Nooooooooooo...and finally someone, probably my Dad after my Mom wailed on him, pulled me out. All of the guys, Uncles, Grandpa, Father and whoever else, called me nasty names like "little girly" and "sissy" and others. Anyway, after they got me out, they wanted to get the bucket, the brush and the kerosine lantern out of the septic tank. None of them would fit thru the hole they had lowered me through (duh, geee). Anyway that happened when I was really young. But I still remember...maybe it will fade away by the time I'm 100.

Great story Dad! I could just imagine how terrified you must have been when being lowered into that stinky pit... nowadays, your family would have been accused of child abuse! Thank God Grandma Fenrich saved you from those "septic monsters"... if not, I might not be here today. Whew!
Keep the stories coming... it's just fabulous to hear about them! :D
