The old forum (PNPhpBB2) has been converted to a simpler and integrated forum (pnForum) which is accessible here: http://www.fenrichfamily.com/module-pnForum.htm The center block for the forum has also been updated. The change was needed to remove sid (session ID) information from the URL string to prevent ‘page can not be displayed’ errors from search engine databases using indexed FF.com pages that included the sid string. In English; better search engine coverage of the website.

The old .php url extension has been replaced with an .htm extension using the Apache rewrite module, Xanthia, and .htaccess files. This will shorten url strings to make them more friendly. Example of new URL: http://www.fenrichfamily.com/module-photoshare.htm

The new gallery that I was testing has been removed since I wasn’t able to integrate it into the PostNuke user system.

The dynamically generated family tree program has been scraped and replaced with static pages. This allows Google to pluck more information out of the family tree and will also eliminate the session ID issues causing page errors. This will equate to better search engine coverage of the information on FF.com which will lead more researchers to the site.

The old message board and family tree are still out there but not linked to any pages on the main site to prevent any broken links. These will be removed next year.

URLs submitted to Google: 7297
