While the origin is unknown there are two versions. One is the traditional religious and the other pagan. The religious version indicates that it means Christ Child.

I didn't know one answer...but do I get a point for being able to read the questions? How 'bout another for being able to read them aloud? Keep the trivia coming.
Here's a good one...how many atoms in an atom bomb? Remember the "Dead Horse" story?
I enjoy the TQ.

Whew whee! You guys have been busy - and so has your Christmas Trivia Challenge moderator - being one of Santa's helpers is a lot of work!

Kris Kringle - German for “Christ's Child” or “Christkindlein”. A name for a early German gift-bringing infant Jesus or angelic being, who was thought of as a Christ's helper and gave gifts to poor and needy children. As cultures merged, visits from the similar St. Nicholas, Pere Noel, Pelznickel and Christkindlein all became overshadowed or mutated into Santa Claus.

Sharon, Mom and Brad... you all answered correctly, but Sharon got it first! 1 point for Sharon.

Mom answered all the questions correctly in Brad's Christmas Trivia QUIZ!
(Still not sure about "Klaxon" the reindeer though). Great job...10 points to you!

Dad, you will receive 1.5 points for being able to read the questions. You can claim the remaining .5 point when you submit a CHRISTMAS trivia question!

The points standings are as follows:
1. Mom - 11 points
2. Brad - 3 points
3. Sharon - 2 points
4. Dad - 1.5 points
5. Cheryl - 6 pints

Okay guys... the previous questions have been way too easy. Here's today's Christmas Trivia Challenge question, but it directly relates to ME and you can't look THAT up on the Internet (Paris Hilton I'm not).

Cheryl puts a glass pickle ornament on her tree every year because of an old German tradition. She hides it deep in the boughs of the Christmas tree. The lucky person to find it on Christmas Day should be blessed with good luck and a special gift from St. Nicholas.

Also, Cheryl loves to see us all searching for the pickle. Brad usually finds it!

And we have a winner!

The tradition of hiding a pickle inside the Christmas tree comes from a medieval folktale. The story tells of two Spanish boys traveling home from boarding school for the holidays. They were tired from their travels so they stopped at an inn to spend the night. The innkeeper was a mean and evil man. He stole their possessions and then stuffed the boys into a pickle barrel.
That evening, St. Nicholas stopped at the inn for a rest. He found out that the boys were inside the pickle barrel. St. Nicholas tapped the pickle barrel with his staff and the boys were magically restored. After thanking St. Nicholas for his help, they continued on home for Christmas.
Through time, this Victorian tradition has been celebrated by hiding a hand-blown glass pickle on the Christmas tree. Whoever finds it first on Christmas morning receives a special gift

This next audio Christmas Trivia Challenge question could be difficult and is worth 5 points!

The classic Christmas song "The Little Drummer Boy" is a family favorite and was performed by many.
Who sings this version?

Today, December 15th around 8:00 pm, my parents arrive for the holidays... I can't wait! Needless to say, I'm busy preparing for their visit and will not be too active on the site for a couple of days, so here's a Christmas Triva QUIZ to keep us all busy for a couple of days:

3. What sort of building was Jesus born in?
