Our whole family is exceptionally brilliant if I do say so myself, so we are going to have a Christmas Trivia Challenge...
I'll start it off with this one:

Margaret Whiting and Johnny Mercer did a recording of this song as did Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong and Doris Day and Bob Hope; but this is probably the original that was recorded by Dinah Shore and Buddy Clark.

The song was written by Frank Loesser in 1949. Margaret Whiting and Johnny Mercer recorded it in 1949, Buddy Clark and Dinah Shore recorded it in 1949, Ray Charles and Betty Carter recorded it in 1961, Al Hirt and Ann Margaret recorded it in 1964, Tom Jones and Cerys Mattews recorded it in 1999. Other duets included: Bette Midler and James Caan, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Jordan, Vanessa Williams and Bobby Caldwell. Source: Google (is that fair?)
I think it was Dinah Shore and Buddy Clark.

Hey,
Doesn't anyone remember the version that Annelisa Hoffman and I sang at Dave O'Neil's Christmas party? Awww, shucks!
It really was a great rendition.

I don't even remember that! What's with this Annalisa Hoffman? Just kidding, Annalisa was probably the smartest girl in our Dearborn High School class of 1954. Hope she is at the 50th class reunion next year.

This duet with Dinah Shore and Buddy Clark in 1949 made it big time with the tune "Baby It's Cold Outside" from Frank Loesser in the film "Neptune's Daughter" with Esther Williams, and was the Oscar winner for best song of the year. The record charted as high as number four and spent five months on the best sellers.
Mom, Sharon, you are both correct... but Sharon guessed it first. 1 point for Sharon!
Dad, you get a "honorable mention" for the most "off the wall" response!

Well, well, we have a conflict here! Brad was the person that uploaded the song and has the "tags" on the MP3 file. He claims the song is by Bing Crosby and Doris Day, not Dinah Shore and Buddy Clark.
So, since it's MY trivia game, I'll give a point to Brad, but not take away Sharon's point because from my research on the song, it was never mentioned that Doris Day and Bing Crosby performed it. BUT - the MP3 tag says so....
Brad also is the winner of the next Trivia question!
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, the Ugly Duckling of Santa’s reindeer herd. The Montgomery Ward Co. had been for years buying and giving out coloring books for Christmas at their stores, in an attempt to cut their cost they had one of their employees, copywriter Robert May write a story. Robert May wrote the story to cheer up his 4yr old daughter Barbara whose mother was dieing of cancer. Rollo then Reginald were the first names he'd named the deer before he settled on Rudolph. His wife died shortly before the story was published.
He had Denver Gillen from the Ward’s art dept. illustrated the story. Montgomery Ward’s distributed 2.4 million copies of the booklet in 1939.
In 1947 Montgomery Ward’s gave the copyright to May who had become deeply indebted with his wife’s medical bills. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer was printed commercially in 1947 and a cartoon came out in 1947 to be shown in theaters. Songwriter Johnny Marks wrote a musical version of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”, taking a few liberties with May’s story. May’s Rudolph lived in a reindeer village elsewhere, not the North Pole with Santa’s reindeer, May’s grew up in a good household though taunted by other reindeer, and May’s Rudolph was discovered by accident when Santa seen his glowing nose while he was delivering presents to Rudolphs’ house, and being already distressed the by fog, asked Rudolph to lead his sleigh.
Gene Autry recorded Mark’s song in 1949, selling two million copies the first year and became the second top selling song of all time. In 1964 Rankin/Bass TV special was made and narrated by Burl Ives, which is still popular Christmas rerun.
So here's the new points ranking:
1. Brad - 2
2. Sharon - 1
Here's the next

I am going to guess that the twelves days of Christmas represent the twelve tribes of Israel.
I also must confess that I had help on the song from my nephew, Sean McDonnell, who is a Swing DJ. He has an interesting website at: www.swingdj.com

Contrary to much popular belief, these are not the twelve days before Christmas, but in the Western Church are the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany (January 6th; the 12 days count from December 25th until January 5th).
On the 1st day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
A Partridge in a Pear Tree
The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, whose birthday we celebrate on December 25, the first day of Christmas. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge that feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings, recalling the expression of Christ's sadness over the fate of Jerusalem: "Jerusalem! Jerusalem! How often would I have sheltered you under my wings, as a hen does her chicks, but you would not have it so . . . ." (Luke 13:34)
On the 2nd day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Two Turtle Doves
The Old and New Testaments, which together bear witness to God's self-revelation in history and the creation of a people to tell the Story of God to the world.
On the 3rd day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Three French Hens
The Three Theological Virtues: 1) Faith, 2) Hope, and 3) Love (1 Corinthians 13:13)
On the 4th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Four Calling Birds
The Four Gospels: 1) Matthew, 2) Mark, 3) Luke, and 4) John, which proclaim the Good News of God's reconciliation of the world to Himself in Jesus Christ.
On the 5th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Five Gold Rings
The first Five Books of the Old Testament, known as the Torah or the Pentateuch: 1) Genesis, 2) Exodus, 3) Leviticus, 4) Numbers, and 5) Deuteronomy, which gives the history of humanity's sinful failure and God's response of grace in the creation of a people to be a light to the world.
On the 6th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Six Geese A-laying
The six days of creation that confesses God as Creator and Sustainer of the world (Genesis 1).
On the 7th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Seven Swans A-swimming
The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: 1) prophecy, 2) ministry, 3) teaching, 4) exhortation, 5) giving, 6) leading, and 7) compassion (Romans 12:6-8; cf. 1 Corinthians 12:8-11)
On the 8th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Eight Maids A-milking
The eight Beatitudes: 1) Blessed are the poor in spirit, 2) those who mourn, 3) the meek, 4) those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, 5) the merciful, 6) the pure in heart, 7) the peacemakers, 8) those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake. (Matthew 5:3-10)
On the 9th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Nine Ladies Dancing
The nine Fruit of the Holy Spirit: 1) love, 2) joy, 3) peace, 4) patience, 5) kindness,
6) generosity, 7) faithfulness, 8) gentleness, and 9) self-control. (Galatians 5:22)
On the 10th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Ten Lords A-leaping
The ten commandments: 1) You shall have no other gods before me; 2) Do not make an idol; 3) Do not take God's name in vain; 4) Remember the Sabbath Day; 5) Honor your father and mother; 6) Do not murder; 7) Do not commit adultery; 8) Do not steal; 9) Do not bear false witness; 10) Do not covet. (Exodus 20:1-17)
On the 11th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Eleven Pipers Piping
The eleven Faithful Apostles: 1) Simon Peter, 2) Andrew, 3) James, 4) John, 5) Philip, 6) Bartholomew, 7) Matthew, 8) Thomas, 9) James bar Alphaeus, 10) Simon the Zealot, 11) Judas bar James. (Luke 6:14-16). The list does not include the twelfth disciple, Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus to the Romans.
On the 12th day of Christmas my true love gave to me...
Twelve Drummers Drumming
The twelve points of doctrine in the Apostle's Creed: 1) I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. 2) I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. 3) He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. 4) He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell [the grave]. 5) On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. 6) He will come again to judge the living and the dead. 7) I believe in the Holy Spirit, 8) the holy catholic Church, 9) the communion of saints, 10) the forgiveness of sins, 11) the resurrection of the body, 12) and life everlasting.
Epiphany, January 6

The Twelve Days of Christmas are actually an underground Catechism.
It was a crime to be a Catholic in the 14th and 15th Century and these catechism songs helped young Catholics learn their faith.

See! I told you we are all brilliant.
Here's the answer for the "12 Days of Christmas" from my secret source:
As for the Twelve Days of Christmas Song, I have no idea who wrote what seems to be a nonsensical song, but it's recorded as being written during the period of time when Roman Catholics in England were not allowed to practice their faith without punishment (which would explain why no one credits themselves for penning it), the song was to help children to remember the tenets of their faith. Some dispute this though, because everything in the song goes along with both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church.
The true love was God Himself.
The me was any baptized person.
The partridge in a pear tree was Christ and may of referred to Matt. 23:37 and Luke 13:34.
The 2 turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.
3 French hens stood for faith, hope and love. (1 Cor. 13) The Theological Virtues
The 4 calling birds were the 4 gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The Four Evangelists
The 5 golden rings recalled the Torah or law; Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy. The Law or Pentateuch.
The 6 geese a laying were the 6 days of creation.
The 7 swans a swimming were the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 7:30) The 7 Sacraments.
The 8 maids a milking were the eight Beatitudes. (Matt. 5-6).
The 9 ladies dancing were the 9 truths of the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5).
The 10 Lords a leaping were the 10 Commandments.
The 11 pipers piping were the 11 faithful apostles.
The 12 drummers drumming symbolized the 12 points of belief in the Apostle Creed.
Note: In the original version the first 5 gifts were all birds, 1st day = Partridge, 2nd day = 2 Turtle Doves, 3rd day = 3 French Hens, 4th day = 4 Colly Birds (Blackbirds) not Calling birds, and on the 5th day = 5 Golden Rings (referred to ring-necked pheasants) not jewelry.
Brad's answer matches my source best, so he gets a point. Mom's answer is also true, so she gets a point. Sharon's answer is interesting and I love swing music, but wrong, so no point.
As it stands:
1. Brad - 3 points
2. Mom & Sharon, tied with 1 point each.
Okay! Here's question #3 in the
