CHERYL LYNN
The stranger who was part of me
Came softly thru the mist of birth.
Her beauty was that of life itself.
It is amazing how that warm bundle
Demanded so much of me.
It is also amazing how gladly I gave.
Look! She is learning. She turns over
And coos. Babbles and crawls. Speaks
And walks. How proud I am as I watch her
grow and learn.
We were constant companions - she and I.
Then the first separation began.
It was time for school, new thought and
New horizons. That is when her dependency
Began to diminish. And we both knew it!
As the years passed there was laughter
And tears. Sadness and joy. Happiness
And anger. She grew strong and
independent. And we both knew it!
She is so beautiful now as her childhood
Passes and womanhood approaches. Her
Dreams, desires and needs are all-consuming
And she must break the chains that bind.
Good luck with life my child.
My love goes with you on your maiden journey.
The chains of dependency are broken, but the
Silken threads of our love will last forever.
And we both know it!
