Maggie Gaines was born on September 14, 1875.
In 1894 when James Dooms was 20 years old he married Maggie Gaines, age 19 in Kuttawa, Kentucky and they had four children. Daughters: Virgie Charlotte Dooms, born September 5, 1894 and Jimmy Lucile Dooms, born 1896. Sons, Lawson Dooms and Carl (Bus) Dooms.

Here is Part 1 of my research on the Lowe Family history. You should be able to add this to the family history you’ve already researched. If you have any questions or comments, just let me know.
The confusion about the Doom or Dooms name remains a puzzle. I know that our great grandmother Maggie Gaines Dooms used the Dooms name. It was printed on her funeral card that I got from Aunt Jean. When Don and I visited the family cemetary in Kuttawa, Kentucky a few years ago, most of the names on the headstones were engraved with Doom, but some said Dooms. We have a video tape of parts of the cemetary around here somewhere. Could we use any of that on the web site? The family history article from the Lyon County Times all said Doom. Go figure?
Also, I have some old family photos of Grandad and Grandmother Dooms and others. Later, I can scan them and send them to you for the newsletter and the website if you want. Let me know.
Part 2 is coming up. I’ll try to write some paragraphs about a few of my personal experiences with deceased family members.
This has been a fun diversion for me, but now it’s time to get back to work.
