Remember when your family would get together around the old slide projector and screen to see the latest vacation photos? Well Dorothy... were not in Kansas any more! It's 2002 and we have the internet.

I am going to present to you all a photo journal of our fabulous adventure abroad.

The cast of characters: Donald R. Fenrich Jr., Colleen Lowe Fenrich, Donald R. Fenrich III. and me, Cheryl Fenrich Stoner... your host for this travel log.

The places: Eastern Europe, Russia and the Baltics.

This project will take some time, so sit back, relax and enjoy the show folks! Check back often for new postings and new adventures of the Fenrich Family Tour located in the Image Gallery.

<font face="arial" size="2"><font color="#0000cc">Brad is continually upgrading and making the site easier for us to use. We are so fortunate to have a computer guru in our family who is willing to develop our family's website and I am so grateful he can take the time to do all of this with his busy 12 hour day schedule.

<font face="arial" size="2">The new chat room is starting to be used frequently! We have had Don, Colleen, Brad and myself online and "chatting" at the same time. If you see other members online... check to see if someone's in the chat room, it's really fun and saves money on long distance phone calls

<font face="Arial" size="2">So far, I am the only one who has "introduced" myself on the message board, if you have a spare minute, please tell us about yourself and again, thank you so much to everyone who is participating in this project.

Observations on the rendering of the surnames FAEHNRICH and FENRICH.

The evolution in spelling and pronunciation is not at all uncommon with Germanic names.

In German, FAEHNRICH would be equivalent to the spelling and pronunciation of FAHNRICH - the “ae” combination is replaceable by the umlauted letter “a” - an umlaut being the “two-dot” accent mark. (my message here: as I can’t make an umlauted A or a, I’ll just surround that letter with quotation marks and you’ll know it should be an umlauted A or a) appearing over this vowel. An umlauted “a” in German is pronounced very much like the way we English speakers pronounce the short sound of our letter “e”, as in the word, “sent.”
