Individual Note:
     Ira "Red" Junior Lowe entered the Navy in 1945. He left high school and lied about his age to get in. He became the youngest man to be commissioned an Ensign. Then when he became a Chief Petty Officer, he was the shortest man to do so. Both times the rules had to be rewritten.
Red was the only man to swear his own son into ROTC as an officer.
Red received the Bronze Star for service in the Vietnam War.
