Colleen Joyce Lowe and Donald Robert Fenrich, Jr. were married on Saturday, September 08, 1956.
The marriage took place at St. Sebastian's R.C. Church, Dearborn Hgts., MI. It was a 10AM Mass.
We were married less than one (1) month after Donald's discharge from the Army after he'd served just shy of 2 years military duty.
It was raining when we entered the church, and it had stopped and there was a huge rainbow as we emerged from the church.
The wedding breakfast, paid for by Pa, was held at Singing Sams Pizzaria in Warren, MI. After breakfast we went to the pride's parents house.
The brides parents were Dorothy Geraldine Fowler Lowe and John Henry Lowe. They lived on Hartlein Drive, N of 13MileRd in Warren, MI
The groom's parents were Margaret Elizabeth Gasper Fenrich and Donald Robert Fenrich, Sr.
The Bride and her bridesmaids took a nap and got straightened up for the Wedding Reception.
The Groom, his bestman (Phil Erlenbach) the parents of both the Groom and Bride, and others, all spent time at the Lowe's home.
The Wedding Reception was held at Warren Valley Country Club, Dearborn Hgts., MI. The reception was paid for by Colleen and Donald.
No Beer, No Wine, No Band...but a fun time was had by all.
We left about 9PM, after Colleen changed from her Wedding Gown, and returned to Donald's home where he changed into casual attire.
We left the Fenrich's house about 10PM and drove to the Del Prado Motel, Telegraph Rd. between Schoolcraft Rd. and 5 Mile Rd.
We had breakfast on Sunday at a restaurant at Schoolcraft and Telegraph, then went to church, and then began our Honeymoon Trip.
We spent our Honeymoom touring Philadelphia, spent several days at Atlantic City (just boardwald, no casinos), toured Washington, DC.
We had dinner on the boardwalk in Atlantic City at Scurvy Sal's.
We stayed for our Washington tour in College Park, MD, at a motel where we had fun swimming in the pool and everything else.
