Site News

Search Engines use 'meta tags' in websites to determine content for search engine listings. Currently FenrichFamily.com uses the following keywords:

fenrich, stoner, faehnrich, fenrich family, boone, carnahan, doom, haag, hamilton, knowles, lowe, mcdonnell, woodling, yates, gaines, streberger, sexton, wake, SS Deutschland, Baden-Wurttemburg, family tree, genealogy resources, gedcom file, genealogy research

If you know any keywords that may help Internet users find information from this website please post a comment with your suggestion. Places, people, surnames, and any facts in published documents would help.

Thanks,
Brad

That seems like a complete list of the major surnames on this site. Genealogists capitalize the surnames. Does this make any difference in the search engines?

In addition to the comment about case-sensitivity, I wonder if someone searches on Dooms, rather than Doom, will they get here?

Otherwise, I think you've thought of most things I would search on.

I just thought of something else. Whenever we start posting special documents to the Documents Section, such as census information, immigration information and the like, we should put a META tag in for it. I will try to remember when I send you the census information for the 1850 Warrick County Indiana census to include a reminder to do it too. I sent the one about Simon Peter Lowe, but I think I will resend as an image of the actual microfilmed pages. It makes more sense and looks cooler. Also, Cheryl wanted me to add text to the census information explaining it in a little more detail. I not sure if she meant the product or the process; I'll include both probably.

Also, since you put McDonnell as a META tag, you might want to include McDonald also. Part of the family changed the name due to a scandal with which they wanted to disassociate themselves. I will have to ask if I can divulge that information because it's a pretty interesting story. I have information about my husband's grandfather's immigration, but didn't think you would be interested in it here. If you are, let me know and I will image the ship's log and send it.

search engines do not care about capitalization or the possessive context.

stoner. Stoner, Stoners, stoners are all the same.
