Meditation on Maple Hill
I stood today on grassy ground With maple shade trees all around And gazed on markers row on row For old friends I used to know.
One is standing in its place, My name engraved upon its face. This tired old body, weak and worn Struggling with life since it was born, Will lie here safe from all harm, Resting in Mother Nature’s arms.
My soul by Death’s cold hand set free, Will speed into Eternity. Back to the place from which it came To live in me and bear my name, Its still small voice throughout my life, Urging me upwards in its strife.
I know my loved ones I shall meet And kneeling at my Savior’s feet Receive a recompense, The joy of His approving smile now safe within His loving care, Will spend eternal life up there.
